Conversion of this grand old lady into a 9-bedroom house

The Brief: To modernise and convert this 5 bedroom, 3 bathroom house in Rondebosch, Cape Town into a 9 bedroom, 5 bathroom upmarket student residence. To remodel the house internally to create additional bedrooms and bathrooms, create a new kitchen, replaced all the electrical wiring and plumbing and repaint the house inside and out. Bios to project management from start to finish.

The Project: This 2-month initiative has now been completed. The work included:

  • Repairing major structural cracks in the walls
  • Repairing extensive lateral damp
  • Using drywalling to divide large bedrooms into two
  • Enclosing the stoep and transforming it into a new kitchen
  • Pulling up old carpets and sanding wooden floors
  • Replacing all the electrical wiring in the house
  • Replumbing the house
  • Landscaping the garden
  • Installing 5 bathrooms
  • Extensive waterproofing
  • Servicing sash windows
  • Pulling up carpets and sanding wooden floors
  • Installing an electric gate, intercom system and alarm
